They need to play SXSW. Just saying.

SXSW hates hip-hop, and local artists in general?

I see very little hip-hop on the bill (it gets less and less each year). Even though some of the most popular albums, songs, and artists on the charts, radio, and internet right now are hip-hop based. People love hip-hop, so why is it represented so poorly? Also, the fact that Austin has so many great mainstream and underground hip-hop acts out there right now, it's just sad that they get no support. But just in general, I see a lack of local artists on the bill. SXSW outgrew Austin I guess, but they still love having their festival here and flaunting it in all the amazing, hard-working Austin artists' faces. Shame on you SXSW. Why not try helping to build the local scene into a powerhouse, instead of abandoning it...
