The Rhombus is in Houston
The Rhombus is in Houston. Yup, THAT rhombus... you heard it here first. Well, maybe you heard it from Ellis Godard back in 2003? Me, Eggs, and our buddy Lance Williams took a trip to the mecca of phish-dom this past Friday to pay homage and snap a few pics. This one is for our fellow Texas phans who are bummed, like us, that Phish choose Indio over the perfection of a festival site in the Hill Country.

The Rhombus is no longer hidden in the woods of the Northeast. It's at the Menil Gallery as part of a collection of 3 pieces by Tony Smith, who crafted the splendid shape of Gamehendge in 1966. Officially called "New Piece," it's definitely the best of his outdoor sculptures on display.

We scrambled atop somewhat precariously. There is indeed a hatch on top, apparently sealed since Trey [Anastasio] and Tom [Marshall] started a fire inside the Rhombus in their younger days. Unfortunately the setting is nowhere near as picturesque as it must have been back then.

But still, hopefully the location of such an important piece of phishtory will lead them to return to Houston during winter tour! Stay tuned for more Phish-related content coming after our Thursday coverage of the late-summer leg opener at Red Rocks.
