Ben Folds with Regina Spektor, Inara George on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Submitted by eggs on Sat, 11/15/2008 - 17:01.Ben Folds has been on my radar for several years, but I'd never taken the time to immerse myself in his catalogue. While I've heard many of his songs, they have never truly stuck with me. When I noticed that he was going to be on Jimmy Kimmel, my favorite late night personality by far, I left the channel on to see what he had to offer. The addition of two of BOT's favorite female vocalists, Regina Spektor and The Bird and the Bee's Inara George, certainly kept my attention as well. First up was Folds and Spektor's highly blogged "You Don't Know Me" from Folds' latest album, Way to Normal, followed by the fitting Bond song "Nobody Does It Better" which finds George matching her skills up against the Carly Simon original.

Black Kids on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Submitted by eggs on Sat, 09/06/2008 - 13:00.Last night, while we were busy watching ROTHBURY on Palladia, recent buzz-band Black Kids took the stage for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. While I'm sure the crowd in attendance were treated to several other tunes, the viewers at home saw them run through their hit "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You", which I'm still not sick of, even after about a year of hearing it. The Black Kids' new album Partie Traumatic, which features many of their already-released EP tracks plus a handful of new ones, is receiving quite a bit of attention here in the States, but even more across the pond in the UK. While their new album is quite good, I personally preferred their lo-fi EP that was mass-released throughout the blog community late last year. It was a great sign of things to come, which certainly proved true after the release of the new album. Hopefully they stick to their roots, and don't let all of this recent success blow up their heads. I quite like their current sound, and don't want to see that change with the possibility of over-production and poor songwriting. Anyway, enjoy their performance of "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend..." which aired last night.
It's a fun tune. Let's just hope that pop radio doesn't find out about them..
