Allman Brothers and Friends
Submitted by eggs on Sun, 03/15/2009 - 20:31.Sorry things have been so quiet around here lately, but we just moved shop and are waiting for our internet to be installed. We will be back in full force this week as we take Austin by storm for SXSW, so stay tuned for tons of coverage in the coming days.
Smack dab in the middle of their famed run at New York's newly refurbished Beacon Theatre, the Allman Brothers Band invited a few choice guests to perform with them throughout the night. The first guest spot came from classic blues legend Buddy Guy, who took the stage with the already stellar guitar section of Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks to perform through the Brother's hits "The Sky Is Crying" and "You Don't Love Me." Soon, the stage became a bit more crowded when Phish's Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell emerged from the wings for a nasty version of "Southbound." The second set found Anastasio and McConnell returning to the stage for the classic jam traditional "I Know You Rider" as well as "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" before leaving the band to finish out the rest of their set guest free. We found a few videos from the night posted on the front page of our friends over at Coventry Music Blog that we thought you all might like to check out.
All Points West Sunday
Submitted by eggs on Tue, 08/12/2008 - 01:16.The final day of the first annual(?) All Points West festival featured a much different vibe than the more indie-tastic Friday and Saturday. The big name on the bill was Jack Johnson, whose set featured sit-ins from both Trey Anastasio and Matt Costa, who had both performed with their own bands earlier in the day. Other performers during the jam-friendly Sunday included Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cat Power and Amadou and Mariam on the main stage, and The Secret Machines, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, and Rogue Wave holding down the other two. We wish we could have made it up to NYC for this event, but thankfully a whole bunch of other folks did.

Newport Folk Festival on National Public Radio
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 08/04/2008 - 15:10.
While most hipsters were attending Chicago's main event this past weekend, the grandaddy of all American folk festivals was going on about a thousand miles away in Newport, Rhode Island. Over the course of August's first weekend, the Newport Folk Festival featured performances by Trey Anastasio, Brian Wilson, Jimmy Buffet, The Black Crowes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Levon Helm, Gillian Welch, Cat Power, Richie Havens and dozens more acoustic guitar-toting artists and bands. National Public Radio took care of streaming and recording duties, and have kindly put several of the sets up for listen on their website.
Take the jump for links to the available sets.
Trey added to Rothbury, take that Bonnaroo!
Submitted by eggs on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 14:53.Today came the announcement that Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will be making a special appearance at this year's Rothbury Festival in Michigan. Trey has not performed an official gig since Langerado in 2007.

Several other artists and activities have been added as well which you can find out about after the jump.
