Slightly Stoopid @ Wakarusa 2010
Submitted by Cafe Con Leche on Sat, 06/26/2010 - 12:28.
Slightly Stoopid filled up the Revival Tent. I don't think another soul could fit in there, in fact, Hash Browns got a little overwhelmed and left me. I thought I had lost her, but no, she left me. I struggled going around the people when trying to get better angles for my shots, all the while soaking in the love from the fans (as well as some fumes and sweat, ya'll).

Slightly Stoopid & Del The Funky Homosapien @ Warehouse Live

In my constant search for a good live show, there are always a few groups that seem to come into my radar a bit more often than others. Two of these groups decided to bring their musical performances together back to Houston for a showcase of hip-hop, reggae, punk-rock and ska. Slightly Stoopid and Del The Funky Homosapien holed up at Houston's Warehouse Live a few weeks back, and brought all of Houston's kiddies with them. I truly made my way there to catch Del, but I do definitely dig the more mellow sides of Slightly Stoopid. Del performed several classic cuts including "If You Must," "Mr. Dobalina" and his version of the Gorillaz's "Clint Eastwood" in which he was featured on the original version. Leaving a good taste in the mouth of the rearing and ready teens that were hungrily awaiting Slightly Stoopid, Del proved again that he is one of the best and cleanest MC's in hip-hop.
As soon as Slightly Stoopid hit the stage, the crowd swelled as close to the band as possible. I happened to be just a bit too close to the madness, and lost at least a half a beer in the process of standing and listening to the first few songs. While you can't really blame kids for being really excited for one of their favorite bands, they need to learn some manners and common sense before the next time they run into me at a show. Elbows will be thrown. Overall, the show was pretty good. Common fare, though, for this band. I've never been incredibly impressed by the band, but do enjoy several moments of their live repertoire – enough to keep me coming back for more.
This was the first show in which I used my new 50mm, so it was fun testing it out and getting used to the fixed focal length of the prime lens. Check out my shots after the jump.
Slightly Stoopid @ Warehouse Live

Going into this year's ROTHBURY Music Festival, I was quite excited to catch some of California-bred punk and reggae infused rock band Slightly Stoopid, purely based on the glowing review they received from Toast earlier in the year. Unfortunately though, their mid-afternoon set did not ever really catch my ear, which caused me to leave their set to see what Cali-based MC Busdriver had to offer. While I was not that happy with what I saw, I decided that I shouldn't completely write them off just yet. I wanted to see them in a different setting, preferably inside some dark, dank club. When Slightly Stoopid announced that they'd be joining their friends The Expendables and Outlaw Nation during their tour stop at Warehouse Live, I immediately added it to BOT's live music schedule.

Slightly Stoopid/Stupid Records Party Speeds Up The Slowdown!!!
Submitted by toast on Tue, 02/26/2008 - 17:33.The Stupid Records party kicked off recently in San Francisco, CA on Valentines Day. A week later on the 21st of February, the party was poppin off at the Slowdown in Omaha, NE. Stupid Records is Slightly Stoopid's label which includes two acts that are supporting on this tour, Outlaw Nation and The Expendables. This tour is bringing Slightly Stoopid to some smaller venues across the country to give fans more of an intimate experience. The Slowdown provides just that.
