EOTO @ Bourbon Theatre

Ahhhhhh. Another night at Bourbon Theatre. As always, I had arrived about 20 minutes late for the April 20th show in Lincoln, NE. Rushing to get into the venue, I was instantly greeted by a hard hitting performance by the excellent sounds of EOTO with an extremely crowded Bourbon in front of me. As many of you music lovers know, EOTO consists of Michael Travis and Jason Hann of the famed String Cheese Incident. Mixing together several styles of music, while lying heavily on electronic, EOTO offers a much different feel than there days with SCI, yet they attract many mutual fans. Switching up roles from their roots with Cheese, each show is promised to be %100 improvised, making each evening a new experience.

Gem and Jam 2009; Friday @ Plush

The 5th annual Gem and Jam was held in Tucson, AZ this past Friday through Sunday, February 6th – 8th. The festival, which coincides with the two week long Tucson Gem Show, focused primarily on artists of electronic ilk, but also threw in a few other genres to change up the pace a bit. So while the rest of the city of Tucson was out wasting their economically challenged paychecks at the Gem Show, the rest of us festival goers were more than likely sleeping the previous night off, or gearing up for another night of persistent dancing. (Though I’ll be the first to admit that I went to the Gem Show as well...I spent the majority of my time occupying the posh portapotty and reading in the car, however. Seriously, the mobile restroom was the most couth thing I’ve ever laid eyes or ass cheeks on. Festivals should take note.)

Friday consisted of the acts MntLe, Lynx and Jamie Janover and EOTO.

Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival 2008 - Thursday/Friday

Festival season is a time to enjoy the company of many like-minded people in an atmosphere free from the worries of every day life. It is a time to see performances from several bands, spanning several genres, that you normally wouldn't get a chance to see otherwise. Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival, located just outside of Lawrence, KS, took place this past weekend, and served as Breakfast On Tour's jumping point for the 2008 festival season. It featured many highs and lows, but it all culminated into another unique festival experience for the BOT crew consisting of Toast and Eggs.

EOTO Leaves Lincoln Dripping Sweat; 5/3/08 @ Box Awesome

Five years ago, I would have laughed heartily if you told me that I would be into electronic music. For me, it had always been quite hard to respect an act that relied solely on computers to make their music. I have had several acquaintances try to sway me throughout the years, to no avail. Eventually I would begin to attend festivals regularly. I soon began to be able to handle some of these acts as they make for excellent late night antics. Then EOTO came along. Being a Cheese fan, I felt obligated to check them out when they came to Omaha on their first tour. I did not know what to expect, but was quite skeptical going into the night. Regardless, I had a blast that night and was inspired to take on more music with electronic roots, from groups like Zilla and Lotus to acts such as Hot Chip and Justice. This is all music that previously I would have not even given a chance to, but now, will take on in a heartbeat.
