Regrets: Dave Matthews Band

As a former Dave Matthews Band fanatic, this video cracks me up. While I still enjoy the music of DMB, and probably wouldn't miss a show if I had a free night, this clip really kinda hits home. It features a young adult lamenting about his days past that were all encompassed by the world of DMB. He is stuck in a DMB rut, and is unsure if he'll ever get out. Give the clip a watch:

"Guess I could never really get into the, you know, throatiness of Pearl Jam...kinda like grating, childlike voice of Dave Matthews, I loved!" So freaking brilliant!

Dave Matthews Band & The Avett Brothers @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

Dave Matthews Band made an early trip to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and brought along The Avett Brothers to support. The khaki shorts, flip-flops and over-bronzed co-eds were in abundance for their yearly summit of stoned swaying and drunken sing-a-longs.

Widespread Panic, Wilco, DMB set for 10KLF!

In what can only be seen as an attempt to compete with the big boys, the 2009 edition of the 10,000 Lakes Festival has come out strong with some big names to get folks excited about their initial artist announcement. Widespread Panic is set to hold down two nights in the headlining spot, while the big ticket seller is Dave Matthews Band. Wilco is also slated to appear at the four-day festival, which will take place way up north in Detroit Lakes, MN from July 22nd to the 25th. A few Minnesota bands got the nod as well, including BOT favorites Trampled By Turtles, as well as the genre-bending rock group Wookiefoot whose Snowball event last weekend served as the platform for this announcement.

The festival's official website claims that they are still yet to release their "biggest announcement ever" on the 21st of this month, so maybe we'll see one of those two reunited mega-jambands on top of this bill. Hell, they're both rumored to play every other damn festival, why not this one?

Any thoughts people? Is anyone interested in coming with me?

LeRoi Moore, R.I.P.

From davematthewsband.com:

We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.

Dave Matthews Band have been an integral part of my love for live music. They opened my eyes to many different acts that I now follow today. I knew that Moore had been in the ATV accident, and witnessed DMB play without him at ROTHBURY, but I did not realize that he was in such dire condition. While I have not paid as much attention to DMB lately, I am still deeply saddened by this news, and know that they will never be the same without him. His saxophone was a major part of DMB's sound, and cannot be filled by any other player. I want to send all of my thoughts and prayers to Moore's family, friends and fans that are all assuredly in the same state of shock as I am.
