Keller Williams @ Fitzgerald's

For the first time in over five years, time and travel tested performer Keller Williams brought his one-man circus to the most appropriate venue I've seen him at in years, Houston's newly revamped hot-spot Fitzgerald's. After a conversation Bacon and I had with Kellerlast year before his gig in Dallas, we learned his absence in Houston was due to many things, but mainly stemmed back to his young children and his propensity to be with them on more of a regular occasion. No worries Keller, we still love you and will welcome you with open arms any time you decide to come back. Hopefully, though, it's sooner than 2016.

On The Road With... Keller Williams

 Keller Williams @ the Granada

On the afternoon before his February 5th gig in Dallas, Eggs and I were fortunate enough to spend a telephonic half hour talking to one of our favorite artists – Keller freakin’ Williams. The conversation touched on his upcoming releases (new Keels record AND a kids' album!!), the String Cheese reunion, and his thoughts on Furthur… among MANY other topics of interest to Keller fans like us. It was quite a thrill to say the least, and was made even better due to a helluva performance that night in Dallas. We hope you enjoy the interview, and you should sound off in the comments section to assure Keller that he’ll pull big crowds at future Houston shows. Read on after the jump, and stay tuned for a full review of the show.

Win Tickets to see Keller Williams @ The Granada

Thanks to the amazing folks at the Granada, we are giving away a pair of tickets to see two amazing one-man bands: Keller Williams and That 1 Guy this Friday, February 5th at Dallas' best music venue. Keller Williams hasn't graced us Texans with a show for a long while, and, if you've never seen him, his guitar mastery is a sight to behold. The night is sure to be filled with his clever originals, some interesting covers, and a whole lot of danceable loops. That 1 Guy plays the Magic Pipe - an amagalmation of plumbing pipes, bass strings, and electronics that he constructed himself. He also employs digital looping, a Magic Boot, and a Magic Saw. It's gonna be a weird, fun night. Check out videos from both artists below, and enter the ticket contest (winner selected randomly on 02/05/10) by commenting with YOUR NAME and CONTACT INFORMATION, EITHER AN EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER! If you don’t give us a way to contact you, YOU CANNOT WIN.

Keller Williams @ Slowdown

Keller Williams @ Slowdown

Alas, the drab winter has surely taken it's toll on us Midwest dwellers. Endless days spent in an ice chest will have that effect from time to time, and now that it has been gloomy and foggy for the past week, Seattle syndrome will soon set in. Well luckily, thanks to our good friends over at Rad Kadillac, a slew of shows have taken over the south eastern corner of the good life state, allowing us to cease writing out suicide notes. That takes us to Sunday night, as a sold out all ages crowd at Slowdown in Omaha, NE played host to Keller Williams, which may have been the only ounce of sunshine I'll see in the month of January.

With the rain on Thursday, and the music (finally) on Friday, we were halfway through Wakarusa. The festival had already seen its climax with its one true headliner, The Flaming Lips, but many of our favorite bands were still to come on both Saturday and Sunday.

With all the hype about Led Zeppelin the past couple weeks I thought it would be a good idea to feature some of my favorite artists covering some of their tunes. They have been a huge influence on many genres of music since the release of their 1969 self titled debut LP. Here are some unique takes on a few of Led Zeppelin's classics.
