On Sunday, Sept. 26, Umphrey's McGee played a sold out show at George's Majestic Lounge. An hour into the show, and there were still some people outside hoping to get tickets to get in.

I got great photos that night. Continue after the jump for the rest of the write-up, photos and info on their new material.

Fayetteville Roots Festival

The First Annual Fayetteville Roots Festival on August 29th was set to take place at Greenhouse Grille, but after a water main broke at Greenhouse Grille the festival was moved to George's Majestic Lounge. Hats off to the festival organizers and to George's management and staff, because the evening ran smoothly, as if everything that happened was part of the plan.

The music-filled evening went better than I expected. I left George's that night with a couple of new albums for my collection, after being blown away by some of the performances. I know I'm not alone when I say that this festival definitely has all the right components to become a Fayetteville classic; from the award-winning artists, to the welcoming audience, and a community coming together in case there's a water main that breaks at the very last minute.

The day I got to talk to Joseph Israel, he had a show at George's Majestic Lounge along with The Jerusalem Band. I couldn't resist going back for more, after a great experience a couple of days earlier. I got to hear again some of the new material that will be released in the new album, possibly next Spring. Songs like "Soulution" and "Better Way" will most likely be on repeat on my player for a while once the new album's out.

It was a great show and while enjoying it, I got a lot of photos for you. Check them out after the jump.

Andy Frasco @ George's

Fayetteville adores Andy Frasco. And as he told me right before he rocked the lounge at George's Majestic, the feeling is mutual. Andy has been busy traveling around the nation, playing relentlessly and working on his new album. Gathering inspiration along the way, he's learned to give his all in every show he plays. That night at George's was no exception.

He was only traveling with R Bizzy (drums) this time, but he was supported by three Fayetteville musicians. If you didn't know they had never played together, you wouldn't know it. They did a great job that night and the music came together so naturally, that the mood was easy and fun. Everything started with one of Andy's favorite covers, "Hit The Road Jack." And from there, it went into a super jam party Frasco-style. His "Ramble Baby Ramble" brought the room alive and got him a lot of love from the crowd.

The party went on until a little before 2 A.M. when the lights at George's came on. He sure left everyone ready for the week ahead. And him? He was ready to do it all over again the following night at another bar in town.

The Giving Tree Band @ George's

After coming back from Wakarusa I thought I'd be OK to go without live music for a while, but after I got an update from @georgesmajestic about a no-cover Wakarusa Post-Party featuring The Giving Tree Band, I was all over it! So I called a couple of friends and headed over to George's Majestic Lounge. I left my camera at home after being glued to it for four days straight at the festival, and keeping in mind with the 1500+ photos I had to look through and edit. So I decided to take it easy and just go for the music.

You see, that night I thought I was doing my soul a favor by not taking my camera. But I was so wrong. About two songs into their set, I knew I liked The Giving Tree Band. Two songs later, I realized I had to write a review. It all came together when I saw someone taking photos of the show, after talking to her, Nicole agreed to showcase her photos on BOT. So this is my shout-out to Nicole Riley! Read the rest of the review and see Nicole's photos after the jump.

G. Love and Special Sauce @ George's

G Love and Special Sauce

BoT is ever-expanding, and I'd like to welcome Cafe Con Leche, my music-lovin friend B Gutierrez from Northwest Arkansas. She'll be having musical adventures from that surprisingly well-traveled corner of the state.

It's been three weeks after the intimate G. Love & Special Sauce show at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR on March 31st. But I still find myself singing to the songs they played, and telling everyone that cares to hear how fun and how refreshing that night was.

The set had a bluesy, sexy start with "Blues Music," and it only got better from there. The crowd swaying in unison, along with G. Love's torso while he sat owning the vocals, the electric guitar and the harmonica. The next hit, "Garbage Man," showed the audience just how well he manages all three. But the magic happens when G. Love comes together along band mates Jeffrey Clemens (drums, vocals), Mark Boyce (keyboards), and wild-eye string bass man Timo Shank to form the very special sauce.
