My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt. II
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 08/18/2008 - 16:11.A while back, as you might remember, we posted eight videos from My Morning Jacket's stop at the Verizon Wireless Theater here in Houston. Those eight videos, which were the first documentation of any of MMJ's new material, found their way all over the web including different posts on Stereogum and Live Music Blog. We were very excited about the chance to let other people see what we Houstonians were lucky enough to experience that night, and knew just by hearing those tunes that their new album, Evil Urges, would be one of the best of the year. We were right. June 10th found MMJ's album released to rave reviews, and also found them with a huge late night slot at this year's Bonnaroo that gave them the opportunity to share their new songs with a much wider audience. Now, after the true fans have fallen in love with the album, MMJ has started their major publicity blitz which includes a full tour and a brand new video for "Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt. II." Take the time to watch their Where The Wild Things Are-inspired video.
Good, huh? Now go check them out on the road! See their full list of dates after the jump.
MMJ, REM, PJ Request Support from Obama & McCain on Behalf of NOLA
Submitted by cereal on Wed, 08/06/2008 - 15:15.Over 90 musicians and music industry personages have banded together to draw the presidential candidates' attention to New Orleans and the Louisiana coast. My Morning Jacket, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, and Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor are among those who signed a letter calling upon Barack Obama and John McCain to attend a September 18 debate in NOLA. The letter, which was developed by the Gulf Coast Restoration Network and Tab Benoit's Voice of the Wetlands organization, asks that "the future President of the United States direct the resources and attention necessary to restore coastal Louisiana and secure the future of Louisiana's communities." Rapid loss of coastal wetlands and unhealthy water are mentioned as primary causes for concern. Neither candidate has yet committed to the event, which will be sponsored by Google/YouTube and New Orleans universities.

My Morning Jacket to Play Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve
Submitted by cereal on Fri, 06/13/2008 - 22:30.Is it too early to make New Year's Eve plans? I already know that this is where I want to be:

I simply can't think of a better way to ring in 2009.
MMJ's newest studio effort, Evil Urges, was released on June 10th. I've been playing it incessantly - yes, that's including "Highly Suspicious", despite all the thumbs-down comments we keep getting on our video of the song from their Houston show in March. It's an unexpected piece of brilliance featuring more than a few nods to TAFKAP. A little goofy, sure, but how could you possibly not grin at lyrics like "peanut butter pudding surprise/Pulitzer prize"?
Update: Want to know what MMJ played during their late-night set at Bonnaroo this year? Check out the setlist after the jump - but be warned...I almost became physically ill when I saw it. Can't believe I missed such a stellar set!
MMJ on SNL
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 05/12/2008 - 13:21.My Morning Jacket debuted two songs off of their new album Evil Urges to a national audience when they took the stage on Saturday Night Live this last weekend. They tore through versions of "I'm Amazed" and "Evil Urges" during the hour-and-a-half sketch comedy program. I know most of you were glued to the TV at 11:30 on a Saturday night, and not off doing something social, but for those of you were out on the town here is a chance to see what you missed.
This album is going to be outstanding!

Listen to your "Evil Urges"
Submitted by eggs on Fri, 04/18/2008 - 17:04.Last month, the Breakfast On Tour crew attended My Morning Jacket's show in Houston at Verizon Wireless Theater. During the show they played through many of their classics, but they also debuted 8 of the new songs from their yet-to-be-released album Evil Urges. We decided to capture all of those songs on video so that MMJ's die-hard fans could get a taste of what was in store for them upon the CD's release in June. As expected, those videos received a lot of attention! Apparently so much attention that it caused My Morning Jacket to release the title track off of their new album 2 months early.
