Frightened Rabbit @ The Loft

Tuesday night The Loft had it's floor shaking with a packed house indie-dancing to Frightened Rabbit [a good thing too, I could imagine a massive implosion of that second-story wood floor if it was a metal show with that many people]. FR started off a little unimpressive. Maybe it's my deafened concert-junkie ears, but the first few songs were quiet, and felt straight off the record. But they got comfortable; and the show mimicked their musical style - gradually building up until that floor was shaking and they were rocking their lovely scottish arses off. Frightened Rabbit - "Nothing Like You" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
Submitted by eggs on Wed, 05/26/2010 - 14:56.If you've been following the site regularly for the past year, you've realized that we can't get enough of the young Scottish lads known as Frightened Rabbit. I finally had the chance to see the quintet perform at SXSW this year (twice, actually), and they blew me away more than I ever thought they could. Unfortunately, due to that damn volcano, they had to cancel their Houston gig, but I am certainly satisfied with the time I've spent with them this year. Last night, Frightened Rabbit made their network television debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform the rocker "Nothing Like You" from their latest album, The Winter Of Mixed Drinks. Check it out...
They certainly nailed this performance, even inspiring Roots drummer and musical mastermind ?uestlove to give props to the band via twitter. I hope they make good on their semi-promise to reschedule their Houston gig later this year, as I am already jonesing for another performance.
New Frightened Rabbit - "Swim Until You Can't See Land"
Submitted by eggs on Fri, 05/29/2009 - 15:17.Cereal's mild obsession with Frightened Rabbit for the past year eventually led my interest in the group to spike, soaking up every bit of material released by the Scottish brother combo of Scott and Grant Hutchinson. We've even made plans to travel all the way across the country to catch them at Brooklyn's Siren Music Festival, which also features Built to Spill, Spank Rock and a handful of other indie acts. Recently, the folks over at Off The Beaten Tracks had a session with Scott, who offered an acoustic take on a new song, "Swim Until You Can't See Land," as well as a cover of Neutral Milk Hotel's "Song Against Sex" and his own "Be Less Rude."
