Check out whats going on in town today

If you are in the Heights head on over to Fitzgerald's where they are going to be having a block party all day. Bluegrass bands Oakhurst, The DeWayn Brothers and Houston's own Steven Reynolds Band will be playing.

In the Montrose area? Stop over at Griff's were local bands Sky Blue 72 and Hamilton Loomis will headlining their festivities.

Numbers will lay host to the percussion-oriented clown troupe known as Gooferman. This show should lead to some good times (at least visually...).

If you really want to get a taste of Ireland, head on over to McConigal's Mucky Duck where Jim McKenzie will lead a host of players through many traditional Irish tunes, they also feature a predominantly Irish menu if you want to go the whole nine yards!

Also, if you want to get your indie on, the place to be is The Mink, where Monotix, Birds Of Avalon, Dark Meat Vomit Lasers Family Band and Sharks and Sailors will all be performing.

Here is a classic Pogues video to get you in the spirit before you get too hammered:

Slainte! (pronounced slon-cha, it means cheers in gaelic, go ahead, impress your friends)

Eat Your Damn Breakfast!

Maybe this one is not so lame!

A ventriloquist is telling Irish jokes in a pub, when an irate Irishman stands up : "You're making' out we're all dumb and stupid. I oughtta punch you in the nose."

"I'm sorry sir, I..."

"Not you," says the Irishman, "I'm talking to that little fella on your knee."
