The Wild Moccasins - "Cakes"

Houston's indie scene has finally started to make a name for itself as of late, offering several young bands to the fold that are making quite a bit of noise in different music communities. Some of our favorites include Buxton, The Hungry Villagers, The Tontons, Young Mammals, Sideshow Tramps and the fun-loving group of pop sprites we know as The Wild Moccasins. Recently, our friends over at 29-95 sat in on a session with the Moccasins that took place in indie scenester Joe Mathlete's living room. After a brief tease of the B-52's "Rock Lobster," The Wild Moccasins jump in to a delicious version of their own "Cakes."

After a couple well-populated showcases at SXSW, and planting some major seeds here in town, The Wild Moccasins are fitting to blow up soon. Their clean-as-a-whistle sound and image serves as a stark contrast to the darker, brooding facade that is emanating out of today's indie scene. Watch out for these kids...
