Animal Collective 2009 Tour Dates

Along with today's release of their ninth LP, Merriweather Post Pavilion (which is freaking amazing, btw), psychedelic experimentalists Animal Collective have also unleashed a slew of tour dates to accompany their latest effort. After a month-long trek through Europe, and another month to attend to their own affairs, they will take the U.S. by storm for most of May leading into the beginning of June. The foursome will be making stops in Austin and Dallas (sorry Houston folk!), as well as what could only be a yet-to-be announced tour-ender at Bonnaroo. Also on the itinerary is a stop at the Flaming Lips-curated All Tomorrow's Parties in northern New York later in the year.

Hopefully they do play at Bonnaroo, because I'm gonna be in full festival mode by the time they make it down here to Texas (though that tour opener in D.C. might entice me to jump on a plane). Anyone going to catch them?

Check out this nice little live version of "Brothersport" from Merriweather Post Pavilion performed at Amsterdam's Melkweg, one of my most favorite venues:
