The Video Omelette: Dec 31, 2007
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 14:06.Here is a special New Year's edition of the Video Omelette. It is the final VO of the year, so I decided to bring out some fireworks (and bucket drummers?). New Years Eve is always good times with friends and family. It is also a great time to check out some of your favorite bands. New Years shows are notorious for being long, fun and full of surprises when the new year hits. Here are some of my favorite bands pulling out all the stops for their own New Year's Eve celebration.
Shane Bartell - Another New Year
Submitted by cereal on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 12:41.I first discovered Shane Bartell at a 'Listen Up Y'all' session hosted by Houston-based singer-songwriter Lanky at Rudyard's. I immediately fell in love with Shane's beautiful, haunting voice and bought his first full-length release, Too Soon to Say, at the show. I find 'Another New Year', the album opener, particularly relevant as I reflect on all that 2007 has meant to me.
Carpe ientaculum.

Radiohead Ring In 2008
Submitted by cereal on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 12:18.
Surely you've heard all the talk these past few months about Radiohead's you-pick-the-price internet release of In Rainbows. The tracks were relatively low-resolution, but still bloody amazing--there's a reason this album ended up on so many year-end best-of lists (Pitchfork, Sterogum, Rolling Stone, Gorilla vs Bear, our own BOThead Eggs...and on and on). If you couldn't take the pressure of choosing how much to pay, or if you've just been holding out for the higher-resolution CD release, tomorrow is not just the first day of 2008. It's a rainbow-hued D-Day, filled with 'Weird Fishes' and 'Bodysnatchers'. The album is listed on Amazon for $10.99; I'll be heading to my friendly neighborhood music store, Soundwaves, to pick it up.
My New Years Resolution!
Submitted by eggs on Sun, 12/30/2007 - 01:57.Keeping a New Years resolution is pretty much impossible for me. I am sure many people are in the same boat. I have quit smoking three times. I have gone on four unsuccessful diets. It just does not work for me. This year I have decided to make one that would stick. My New Years resolution is to see as many great live acts as I can in 2008. I have not had any trouble going to great live shows in the past so I thought that this would be the perfect resolution for me (I am quitting smoking for a fourth time on the 7th of January. The reason for quitting on the 7th is to make sure it's not actually a resolution).
The beginning of this year is shaping up to be a pretty exciting one musically. Bands are starting to book their spring dates, and Houston, Austin and beyond are starting to fill in their calendars. Here's a list of shows that we here at Breakfast On Tour are really starting to get amped about.

Blind Melon is reuniting with a new lead singer, Travis Warren. How do you think 25-year-old Warren and the new band will fare?

Submitted by toast on Wed, 12/26/2007 - 19:15.Ok. So here's the deal. The other night, a couple folks from the BOT crew were watching the music on demand videos and we came accross what is pretty much the best one I have ever seen in my life. Ever!!! And it's just out of time for Christmas! Here is Dokken doing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Interesting mix, huh. Hope you all get as much of a kick out of it as we did.
Always toastin,
The Toastman
